Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab

This is a descent young man with a good up bringing but recently got himself into this rat race going on in the world today. We all know that in a democratic society, when a group or individuals violate the morals that guide the society and tend to replace democracy with their own doctrine and by force or whatsoever, they are termed Extremists.

Umar Farouk is a Nigerian but his affiliation with Al Qaeda has no connection with the Nigeria you and i know. This young man was breed in the UK and has no mental ideologies of a common Nigerian so why will his association with Osam Bin Laden make the United Sates term Nigeria a Terrorist Nation?

I was opportune to follow the US invasion of Afghanistan at its earliest stage and among the first captured Taliba/Al Qaeda operatives (FIGHTERS) was John Walker, an American citizen .Does this make the United States of America a terrorist nation or the affiliation of Mera Doutvsky an Isreli with Al Qaeda make Israel a terrorist nation?

Nigerians irrespective of poor and bad governance are among the most law abiding citizens in this planet Earth. There might be religious fanatics in the Northern part of Nigeria but they are not extremists because the pains that gives birth to extremism is not afflicted on them so why term Nigeria a Terrorist Nation just because of a coward?

All eyes raise to one direction and all fingers point to one spot each time the word Extremism is mentioned but folk, Islam is not just the only religion that gives birth to Extremism, Christians and every other religion has such group of individuals but what we will try to find out is why it is all about Muslims in our world today.

Mind you, every Muslim is not an extremist,(Fundamentalist) ,there are so many moderate Muslims but the recent attack by Humam Khalil Abu-Mulal al-Balawi a Jordanian Doctor in the CIA base in Afghanistan showed that there are many lions on goat’s skin so what exactly prompts one to become and Extremist and not even to fight an open battle but to penetrate the gigantic security in the airports with the sole intention to blow up an aeroplane with innocent people on board?

You must have heard the word Jihad, this means struggle but the wrong interpretation of this word is one element that prompts this norm in our society today where a Nigerian becomes a world enemy number ONE.

What is actually going on in the minds of these suicide bombers?

I personally believe that the wrong interpretation of Jihad is the main cause of this norm in our society but what is Osama bin Laden and his followers fighting for?

It is no longer Jihad

It is no longer for Allah

It is no longer a true Muslim cause

There is a process of radicalization and there is also a process of deradicalization so it is left for those who really care and believe in true Jihad,true Islam to begin educating our generation about the true essence of Islam,Christian etc.

Al Qaeda is spreading and gaining more grounds world wide,they have integrated Africa and the poor governance/ economic,political,moral instability all over Africa is giving them more chances of radicalizing young men and women though this is not an African problem but i am writing with an African mind.There are so many Umar Farouk out there in Nigeria,African and the world at large.
